About Me
I am a senior brand, reputation and marketing strategist with over 25 years’ experience in leading PR and marketing agencies. I’ve been a trusted partner to CEOs, agency boards and client teams and I’m known for getting to the heart of problems quickly, bringing clarity to plans and supporting their successful delivery.
I now work independently and I’m keen to partner with ambitious organisations - whether they’re established organisation or brands, growing agencies or local enterprises - that want fresh perspectives, modern communications approaches and the benefit of hard-won experience to help them succeed.
I am a natural collaborator and I’m good at understanding what makes individuals and teams tick, creating the conditions for their ideas and expertise to land and succeed so the work is not only smarter but more enjoyable to deliver. I aim to be a practical, supportive partner on any project, whatever its size or objectives.
When not problem-solving, I enjoy living in a remote corner of Suffolk, tending to my plot (focus on sustainability, environment, permaculture), swimming, reading and local arts, and walking the dogs.
Previously I have been a CSO for over ten years at Burson (previously BCW) and a strategic lead at other PR, media, mobile and creative agencies. My successes include overseeing agency innovation and sustained year-on-year growth, building high-performing strategy teams and functions, and delivering impactful, award-winning work for client partners.
I have led the discipline of strategic planning, from my early days as a graduate trainee in the first UK PR agency to have a planning department (Porter Novelli) to establishing a global approach to communications planning at BCW (now Burson) that has since travelled across the industry. I’ve continually innovated my tried and tested tools, frameworks and approaches to deliver high value service to clients.
I care about strategy that is seen through to delivery and results, from my passion for creative development to integrated measurement frameworks (including my work to support AMEC). I have an extensive track record of high impact results for client partners such as Unilever, Nestle, Pfizer, Microsoft and HSBC.
In addition to consulting, I am co-founder of The Pivoteer Partnership which has created The Pivot - an approach helping individuals navigate change in a way which is both purposeful and sustainable. It’s perfect for career changers, entrepreneurs, creators and side-hustlers.
The Pivot programme brings together a number of elements in order to be transformational and to enable people to become ‘Pivoteers’: someone who turns change (either chosen or enforced) into opportunity and growth. It is underpinned by a deep understanding and experience of people development and behaviour change, and of strategy, innovation and lean-start up approaches.
The Pivot is available in multiple formats - retreat, in day-workshops and online - to ensure we can bring the Pivoteer Mindset and Method in ways best suited to different individual, team and business needs and preferences.
